Janene Bergen is a classically-trained lyric soprano residing just outside of Chicago, Illinois. As a child, Janene loved listening to Broadway musicals and pop music, but later developed a passion for opera while attending the University of Montana in Missoula, where she earned her undergraduate degree in Vocal Music Performance. Following graduation, she moved to Vienna, Austria, where she earned a Master"s in Vocal Music Performance at the Vienna Academy of Music and the Performing Arts. Janene lived and performed in Vienna for twelve years, concertizing throughout Europe, primarily in Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands.
After returning to the Midwest, she performed as a member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus for a number of years and was a founding director of Petite Opera Productions based in Park Ridge, where she also performed numerous leading roles. She has performed as soprano soloist with the Illinois Symphony and the South Bend Symphony in Northwestern Indiana, and as a featured soloist with a number of local choral groups including The Heritage Chorale in River Forest, Sing to Live Community Chorus in Oak Park, and The Chancel Choir of Pilgrim Congregational Church in Oak Park.
Before opening her own studio in 2004, Janene taught voice at the Steckman Studio of Music and the Cappelli Institute of Music in Oak Park. She has been a member of CAMTA, the Chicago Area Music Teachers Association, and of NATS, the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
